Bisi Bela Bhaath

Bisi Bela Bhath - A delectable, sumptuous and healthy mix of vegetables, spices, lentil and rice

Ingredients:

Dry roast and powder spices

  • 1 clove
  • 1" cinnamon stick
  • 2 Tbsp. coriander seeds
  • 2 tsp. cumin seeds
  • 4 dry red chillies
  • 2 Tbsp. urad dhal
  • 2 Tbsp. split pea dhal

Steam cook cut vegetables

  • Beans
  • Carrot
  • Squash
  • Eggplant
  • Okra
  • Potatoes
  • Tomatoes
  • Drumstick

Sauté

  • 1 large chopped red onion


Pressure Cook well

  • 1 1/2 cups of rice
  • 1/2 cup of Toor dhal


In a separate pot, add the cooked rice, dhal and the vegetables. Spread the spice mix over them. Add half cup of tamarind juice and 3 tsps. salt. Mix well. Finally garnish with curry leaves and some fresh coriander.

Serve with papad and a side dish of dry spicy curry, preferably potato.
